And no one was abiding by the social distancing policies while we were patiently waiting to be served. The only thing I dreaded about the affair was the long line I would have to stand in to purchase the books that I had chosen. I was also introduced to new authors, and new titles that I had not been aware of in the past. Many of them, I had already purchased for my library, The Quiet House Library.

I browsed the various tables piled with books for children and young adults. The patrons were given handouts with the titles of books in various formats such as paperback or hardcover, the prices of each, including the author’s and the illustrator’s names. It was well on its way to becoming another successful occasion. I arrived about 2:00pm, since I had attended this event in the past and was standing in a long line in the cold before the doors opened to the public at 1:00pm. It was held at the Pennsylvania Convention Center located at 12th and Arch Street, in Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, from 1:00pm through 4:00pm. I attended the 30th Annual African American Children’s Book Fair on Saturday, February 26, 2022.
